Be Our Guest: The Perfect Holiday Tablescape

Welcoming guests into our home, especially during the holidays, always brings my family so much joy. With the most exciting gatherings ahead, we assembled a small guide describing how we use some of our favorite Fleming Lane tabletop pieces. Whether you are hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve dinner, or a holiday brunch, we are here to assist!

The Perfect Holiday Tablescape

Candles

We love the soft, ambient glow candles add to your tablescape. Choosing from a variety of color options can be overwhelming; thus, we find it helpful to ask ourselves the following two questions:

1. Which candle color will best compliment my chosen fabrics (i.e. napkins, tablecloth, or table runner)?

Regarding solid color fabrics, we find it helpful to reference the color wheel. Colors on opposite ends of the wheel best compliment one another! For example, we would pair a seasonal orange fabric with our Stone blue or Newport blue candles.

Regarding patterned fabrics, we would choose a color already integrated into the pattern. For example, we would pair a red and green tartan fabric with our Bordeaux or Hunter green candles.

2. Which color best compliments my flower arrangement?

We love using our Terrace green or Hunter green candles to emphasize light and dark shades of greenery. Alternatively, you can match your candles to the color of a showstopper bloom. For example, we love pairing our Ivory candles with gorgeous camellias!

Bamboo

Chinoiserie influences always make a beautiful statement. Inspired by our Blue & White Collection, bamboo helps you achieve formality with ease. A few available pieces we like to mix and match include our Bamboo Candlesticks, Bamboo Flatware, and Bamboo VaseTry styling a chinoiserie bowl, filled with small pumpkins or gourds, in the eyeshot of guests to create continuity.

Rattan

Rattan adds a beautiful layer to any tablescape. Texture adds visual interest, while neutral tones go with anything. We love to mix our white natural rattan with cooler tablescapes, whereas we prefer to mix our dark natural rattan with warmer tablescapes.

Additionally, napkin rings are an easy way to make your table feel a bit more lavish. If you plan to use rattan napkin rings in tandem with rattan plate chargers, we recommend selecting the same tone for both to achieve continuity.

Maidstone Pitcher

Our Maidstone Pitcher nods an ode to classic American design. It is perfect for serving freshly-squeezed orange juice at your holiday brunch. You can also use it to serve water or a pre-mixed beverage at your holiday dinner.

Alternatively, it serves as a beautiful base for a seasonal flower arrangement. Add a traditional touch to your tablescape or mantle by filling it with willow branches in the fall or berry branches in the winter!

Hand Blown Wine Glasses

We love to showcase the artistry of hand blown glass on our tablescape year-round. However, we like to spice things up during the holidays! We enjoy using this set to serve mulled cider in the fall or mulled wine in the winter. These glasses look especially beautiful when garnished with a cinnamon stick and slice of apple or orange! Finally, we love to display prepared cocktails on a beautiful tray.
