Apple Crisp Recipe

apple crisp recipe

Happy Fall, ya'll! There is something about fall that feels like coming home. I love to welcome the season each year with a basket of freshly picked apples. Warm, sweet, autumnal aromas wafting through our home are heavenly. I always enjoy thinking about new ways to incorporate apples into our menu, as well as prioritizing tried and true traditions. This Apple Crisp Recipe, is one of the first desserts I learned to bake. It is a great recipe for beginners and a delicious alternative to apple pie. Add a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and I am confident your guests will come back for more!

We cherish family recipes tweaked over generations. This recipe was adapted by my mom and myself. My mom found it several years ago and added her own special touch. I have since added mine, and I hope you add yours as well!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Grease an 11.5×8 inch baking dish or an 8×8 inch baking dish. Set aside.

Peel, core, and slice apples in a uniform size. I generally get about 12 slices per apple.

Place apples in an even layer in the baking dish. Pour the water into the dish.

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix dry ingredients (flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg) until combined.

Add the butter and vanilla to the dry ingredients mixture and work them together until crumbles form.

Evenly sprinkle the topping over the apple.

Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
